Welcome to Mideastern MI Library Cooperative
503 S. Saginaw Street, Flint, Michigan
Front entrance
Mideastern Michigan Library Cooperative (MMLC) is a non-profit governmental organization consisting of 31 public, academic, school and special libraries located in the ten county area (Bay, Clare, Genesee, Ingham, Isabella, Midland, Lapeer, northern Oakland, Saginaw, Shiawassee) of the Central Lower Peninsula of Michigan. MMLC is one of eleven library cooperatives funded by the State of Michigan.
MMLC's purpose is to provide those services that can usually be performed more effectively and economically by a larger unit of service while at the same time permitting the smaller unit of service to retain its local autonomy and close contact with the people it serves. The Cooperative itself does not provide direct service to the public; rather it aids and assists member libraries in their endeavors to better serve their patrons.
The Cooperative encourages, facilitates, and coordinates resource sharing for its member libraries; provides services that aid member libraries in improvement of area library service; advocates for its members; seeks funding; provides relevant information to members concerning library issues; provides continuing education opportunities for librarians; and promotes interlibrary cooperation.
